Palmer boys score win over rival Wasilla

The Palmer Moose opened their 2021 boys basketball season with a victory.

The Moose scored a 53-45 win over rival Wasilla Jan. 29 at Wasilla High School. Palmer scored 29 of its 53 total points in the fourth, and closed the game on a 29-17 run. Shea Halbert tallied 10 of his 13 in the fourth, and hit a pair of three-pointers. Palmer made a dozen trips to the free throw line in the fourth. Elijah Evans was 5 of 6 from the line in the final quarter, and finished with 12 points in the game. Tyler Hansen chipped in 11.

Parker Kroon led Wasilla with nine points in the loss. Eli Wagle added eight, and Will Plowman and Andrew Devine chipped in seven each.

Houston varsity wins

The Houston Hawks varsity squad earned a 60-50 win over the Colony junior varsity during boys basketball action Jan. 24 at Colony High.

Cole Taylor led the Hawks with a double-double. Taylor finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs. Hayden Howard added 13 points and Cody Wyrick had 12. Both Howard and Wyrick finished with five assists.
