PALMER — The Palmer Moose capped a perfect weekend on the road with a 62-34 over host Cordova Saturday during the final day of the Cordova Tip-Off.
The visiting Moose used the victory over the home team to win the team title. Senior Michael Kluting, who was named most valuable player of the tournament, scored a game-high 24 points in the win. He scored 14 during Palmer’s 22-point second quarter. Payton Martin added 14 points in the victory and Liam Hughes-Duffy chipped in eight. Clayton Southwick, who was named all-tournament, added five.
Palmer also beat Ninilchik and North Pole during the three-day event. Friday, the Moose beat Ninilchik 42-36. Kluting scored a team-high 15 points. Southwick and Chase Ferris had eight each.
Palmer opened the tournament with a 63-51 victory over North Pole Thursday. Kluting had 21 points. Southwick scored 14, while Hughes-Duffy and Martin scored nine and eight respectively.
Palmer returns home to host rival Wasilla Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at Palmer High. The Palmer girls also host the Warriors at 6.
