It’s legitimate. It’s here. Fair is over. Winter’s coming. The chores are many in the month of September. Procrastination at these final outdoor chores is no longer optional. You’re on deadline. So the Doobie Brothers rocked the crowd on Saturday night. They call their music—psychedelic southern folk rock hippie redneck music—but we just call it good. Yes it was worth waiting in a three hour traffic jam.
The Doobie Brothers said they loved being in Palmer, Alaska, again and from time to time they looked out, above the crowds and kinda gazed at our mountain panorama. Sweet music and sweet mountains go better together, as the theme from the fair proclaimed.
And yes, there was a bit of a doobie scent in the air—from time to time—which just lent a bit of authenticity of this fine old music.
Yukon — the Reindeer from Palmer — impressed the National Livestock Judge. He said, “This is the only fair in the United States that shows reindeer.” He looks forward to more entries in future years. Halyee Snedirev was the Palmer reindeer handler and she did it so well.
