The Palmer Moose and Colony Knights scored team titles in a pair of prep wrestling tournaments over the weekend. Palmer won the Throw Down in Snow Town in Valdez, and Colony finished first in the Hutchison Meltdown in Fairbanks.
Palmer crowned eight individual champs in the Valdez tourney. Kael Salisbury-Gum (130 pounds), Cayson Mastberg (135), William Lindsey (140), Cody Vansiegman (145), Ezra Ginn (171), Carter Paulson (189), Kaelan Vesel (215) and Rueger Mothershead (285) all won their weight class for the Moose.
Palmer finished with 318.5 total points overall.
Wyatt Wilson (112), Nolan Deemer (152), Luke Sena (215) and Harley Watkins (285) finished second for the Moose. Duke McGuffey (152), Jacob Lehman (215) and Kamryn Woodfork (285) placed third for Palmer, and Johnny Martinez (112) was fourth.
The Knights had a pair of champions in the Hutchison tourney. Gabriel Crockett (103) and Boldt Linfors (285) were both first. Justus Payne (125), Haakan Erickson (130), John Bennis (145) and Jackson Weller (215) placed second for the Knights. MacRoderick (130), Torin Erickson (160), Ethan Smith (189) and Maverick Remaklus (215) were third, and Ethan Smalling (119) was fourth.
Susitna Valley’s Gage Harvey (189) placed second at Hutchison and Jeremy Mangione (285) was third.
Redington was the runner-up in the team standings of the Valdez tourney with 247 total points.
Myles Campbell (152) and Thomas Swalling (160) both won their weight classes for the Huskies. Noah Demmitt (103), Hayden Kearney (135) and Aidan LaSelle (140) placed second. Triston Charley (189) and Graham Granger (285) finished fourth.
Hunter Moeller was second at 119 to lead Wasilla. Alexander Probasco (103) was third, and Rogelio Alvarez (103), Max Perkins (135) and John Anderson (160) placed fourth.
Bair Iverson was second at 130 to lead Houston in Valdez. Eli Banks (130) was third, and Deegan Azevedo (125) and Levi Ensminger (145) placed fourth.
Valley grapplers also dominated the girls tournament in Valdez.
Palmer’s Lillie Vansiegman (138), Kaylee Paulson (152) and Noelle Buck (235); Redington’s Mya Campbell (126) and Nikayla Miller (185); and Wasilla’s Kichelle Frizzelle (107) and Taryn Wright (120) won their weight classes. Houston’s Sophie Dickson (120), Mongolia Lo (145) and Kimberly Tischner; Redington’s Annareese Carroll (107); and Wasilla’s Brynlee Lutz (126) and Olivia Probasco (138) were third.
