A 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Buddy and Joan Campbell of Palmer will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Palmer Moose Lodge, 110 S. Cobb St. A dessert table will by catered by Alaskan Events and Catering.
The celebration is hosted by their children/spouses: Greg Campbell of Palmer, Brian and Kyla Campbell of Wasilla, and Seth and Tanya Elliott of Palmer. Please no gifts, your presence is gift enough.
Buddy and Joan were married June 4, 1960, at the United Protestant Church in Palmer. Buddy is the son of Harry and Theo Campbell, who were original colonists from Wisconsin. Joan is the daughter of John and Rosalie Stuart, who came to Alaska in 1946.
They met when Joan was living with widow Rena Buroker so Joan could help with Mrs. Buroker’s two small children and Buddy came over to fix a broken crib. When Buddy asked Joan’s father for her hand in marriage, Mr. Stuart simply gave Buddy a glove.
Longtime Valley residents, they own Campbell Surveying and now enjoy spending summers in Valdez working at the Eagles Rest RV Park. They have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
