PALMER -- The Palmer Elks Lodge is honoring law, order and safety personnel during a special reception Oct. 4 at the Elks Lodge on Barry's Resort Road near Finger Lake.
Each year, the Elks honor those who make strides to keep the community safe. While some honorees include law enforcement personnel, other honorees come from all walks of life and are recognized for doing the little things that add up to a safer community.
Diane Pillars, the Americanism chairperson for the Palmer Elks, said the event begins with a no-host cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner to start at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for the event.
Each recipient was nominated by an employer or a community member for the award.
The nominator will be on hand to give a brief speech about the person being honored during the reception.
"Law, Order and Safety Appreciation Night is important for our community," Pillars said.
For more information about the event or to purchase a ticket, interested people can call the Palmer Elks Lodge at 745-3950.
