PALMER — A half-dozen Palmer players were recently named first-team All-Northern Lights Conference.
Five of the six Palmer players on the list are part of the senior class. On offense, running back Nick DeBach, wide receiver Trey Witz and guard Travis Wheeler were each recognized. Outside linebacker Aaron Christiansen and defensive lineman Austin Farris represented the senior class on defense. Junior defensive back Jared Oviok also garnered first-team all-conference honors.
A pair of Palmer coaches also received major awards from the conference. Longtime PHS mentor Rod Christiansen was named NLC Co-Coach of the Year, alongside Soldotna’s Galen Brantley. Palmer’s Tim Popowski was named Assistant Coach of the Year.
Aaron Christiansen (tight end), Hunter Bleakney (center), DeBach (inside linebacker), Witz (defensive back) and Wheeler (defensive line) also earned second-team honors.
