PALMER — The Palmer Moose had little trouble getting past Skyview, handing the Panthers a 61-28 defeat at Palmer High School on Friday.
Palmer capped a 22-point quarter with a 13-4 run during the final three minutes of the second.
Senior Geneva Ratcliff pulled down an offensive rebound and converted the put-back to put the Moose ahead by 16. On the next possession, junior guard Kelsey Campbell cut through the key and found the backboard for the easy lay-in. And with just more than three minutes to go in the quarter, senior Katie Stratton hit a deep three-pointer to give the Moose the 32-13 advantage.
Senior Ashley Swetzof, with a game-high 14 points, was the lone Moose to hit double digits in the win, but all 11 Palmer players who saw action in the game
scored.
Swetzof sparked the Moose in the first quarter, scoring nine of her 14 points in the first eight minutes.
Sophomore Jaimi Cox added seven in the win, senior Matti Cox scored six, while Ratcliff and fellow senior Sunni Danielowski each chipped in six.
Brittany Meyer led the Panthers with nine.
The Moose improved to 4-3 in Northern Lights Conference play with the win. Palmer’s three losses have come to its Valley rivals, Colony and Wasilla.
While the Moose haven't been able to get past the Knights or the Warriors, Palmer has been pounding the remainder of the NLC. In a two-game series against Kodiak and wins over Homer and Skyview, the Moose have outscored their league opponents 229-126.
The Panthers dropped to 1-4 in league play after the loss to the Moose.
