PALMER — The Palmer Moose led Valley programs with a sixth-place overall finish in the girls’ team standings at the ASAA/First National Bank State Nordic Skiing Championships. The Moose finished with a three-day total time of 3 hours, 57 minutes, 12 seconds, just ahead of rival Colony, which finished seventh in the girls’ standings.
Colony’s Annika Hanestad finished seventh in the girls’ skimiester standings, while Palmer’s Joseph Walling held the same position on the boys’ side. Palmer’s Katey Houser was 10th in the girls’ standing, giving the Valley three skiers in the top 10.
Hanestad, a six-time Region III champ, finished fifth in the girls’ 7.5-kilometer mass start freestyle at Birch Hill Friday. The Knights standout notched a time of 25 minutes, 6 seconds. Houser finished 10th at 25:41.
Walling finished seventh in the freestyle with a time of 27:53.
The Colony boys finished ninth overall.
