Palmer girls win Homer Invite swim meet

PALMER — The Palmer Moose scored the girls team title during the Homer Invitational swimming and diving meet Sept. 8 in Homer.

The Moose finished with 65 points in the team standings, seven ahead of runner-up Soldotna. The Palmer 400-yard freestyle relay team led the Moose with a runner-up finish. Ashtyn Peterson (100 backstroke), Kameela Fletcher (100 backstroke), Ellyse Russell (100 freestyle), Gretchen Snelders (100 butterfly and 200 freestyle) and Chloe Hartman (diving) each finished third for the Moose.

Wasilla’s Jayde Chan and Colony’s Alexis Mattson each won events. Chan was first in girls diving and Mattson placed first in the 100 breaststroke.

Wasilla’s Camren Hancock led Valley athletes in the boys’ class with a win in the 50 freestyle. Colony’s Konnor Kolberg was second in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM. Colony’s Eli Krozel was second in diving.
