PALMER -- A true sign of spring is the sight of little white balls flying through the air. With the arrival of spring in the Mat-Su Valley, the Palmer Golf Course is now open.
Palmer Golf Course officially opened for business on Wednesday.
By 3 p.m. the parking lot was full, the bar was busy and more than 100 golfers had already teed off.
Course officials opened 12 holes on Wednesday -- holes 1-7 and 14-18 -- for a $15 charge. All 18 holes are expected to be open Saturday, for a $22 charge.
The normal price is $32 for the round.
The course is currently restricted to walking only, with the use of carts prohibited for at least two weeks, according to course officials.
The driving range is also currently closed.
Officials said the course, as a whole, is drying out at a very fast pace. Holes 8-13 are still fairly wet, but the Palmer Golf Course does not see any problematic spots.
