PALMER — Connor Looney can add another honor to his stellar senior season.
The Hawaii Pacific University senior men’s basketball standout, a 2013 graduate of Palmer High School, was named second-team All-West Region earlier this week.
Looney, a 6-foot-2 guard, helped HPU enjoy its best regular season in school history. The Sharks finished 26-2, earned both the PacWest Conference regular season and tournament titles, and opened the NCAA Division II national tournament with a victory. HPU’s season came to a close with a 77-74 loss in the second round of the NCAA Division II West Regional.
The honor was just part of a busy postseason for Looney, who was also named the PacWest Defensive Player of the Year, first-team all-conference and a member of the PacWest all-tournament team. Looney finished fifth in the conference, averaging 16.9 points per game. The former Moose standout was also second in the conference with 2.2 steals per game, and added 4.0 rebounds per game to his stat line.
