PALMER — Palmer High School was in a state of ‘stay put’ on Wednesday afternoon due to a medical emergency. Emergency Medical Services staff needed to be able to get to the patient and remove them safely without the traffic of students and PHS was put in ‘stay put’ mode, which is not a lockdown. There was no threat to safety of students, according to Mat-Su Borough School District Public Information Officer Jillian Morrissey. Lockdown and stay put are two completely different ways to address safety concerns of different kinds.

“We’ve got to keep folks in the classroom so EMS can come,” said Morrissey.
