ANCHORAGE — The Palmer Moose claimed second place in the South Anchorage Rock Classic at South Anchorage High School, after losing to the host Wolverines 73-60 in the title game on Saturday.
Palmer held an 18-15 lead after the first eight minutes of play, but South used a 17-6 second-quarter run to get back into the game.
Jake Hillis scored 13 points in the loss. Jake Parisien and Bryce Jacobson each added 12.
On the second day of the tournament, Palmer earned a 53-35 win over Northern Lights Conference rival Homer.
Jacobson posted a game-high 14, while Parisien added 11 and Draughon chipped in 10.
Palmer opened the tourney with an overtime win over Sitka.
Parisien sank a three-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime preserve a 51-47 win for the Moose.
Palmer earned two wins in the tournament that included teams from the Northern Lights, Southeast and Cook Inlet conferences, despite facing a number of injury problems.
Senior Mitch Bergeron, Palmer’s top player in the post, was lost to a knee injury earlier this season. Senior T.J. Fullmer suffered a wrist injury in a loss to Colony last week, and his action has been limited.
Jacobson and Justin Draughon were each named to the all-tournament team.

Heritage Invitational
ANCHORAGE — Heritage Christian used a monster third-quarter run to grab a 62-33 win over Houston in the title game of the Heritage Christian Invitational in Anchorage on Saturday.
Heritage out-scored Houston 24-8 in the third quarter.
Joel Steed led the Hawks with 10 points.
Houston finished 2-1 in the third-day tournament. On Friday, the Hawks ran past Dillingham 67-47.
Scott Herman scored a game-high 18, while Ben Castleberry added 15.
On Thursday, Castleberry scored 16 to lead Houston to a 65-50 win over Cook Inlet Academy.

Ketchikan sweeps Wasilla
KETCHIKAN — Jose Scudero sank the game-winning free throw in overtime to lead the Ketchikan Kings to an 83-82 nonconference win over the Wasillla Warriors on Saturday.
Senior Dexter Pearce scored a game-high 34 in the loss for Wasilla. Fellow senior Tyler Johannes added 23.
Damen Bell-Holter led Ketchikan with 27.
The overtime victory gave the Kings the two-game sweep over the Warriors. Ketchikan earned a 66-61 win over Wasilla on Friday.
Pearce scored a game-high 23 on Friday.
In girls basketball action, Wasilla posted a 56-45 win over Ketchikan on Saturday. Complete statistics were unavailable.

WASILLA — The Bartlett Golden Bears scored two goal in both the first and third periods en route to a 5-2 nonconference win over the Colony Knights at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena on Saturday.
Blake Huppert and Ryan Weeks scored for Colony.
Huppert slipped a puck into the Bartlett net with 30 seconds remaining in the first period to cut the score to 2-1. Chris Sawyer assisted on the play.
Late in the third, Weeks scored for CHS, with help from Huppert and Braden Carter.
Charlie Holman recorded 17 saves for the Knights.

ANCHORAGE — South-Bartlett skated to a 4-1 win over the Mat-Su Ravens, Saturday at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena in Anchorage.
Mat-Su’s Amy Glatz scored early in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Kaitlin Berberich recorded an assist on the play.
South-Bartlett clinched the win by scoring three unanswered goals in the third period.
Rachael O’Malley stopped 25 shots for Mat-Su.
