PALMER — The MTA Events Center is hosting an introduction to curling event Sunday that will feature an Olympian.
Jessica Schultz, founder of curlAk, will be on the ice for a pair of sessions, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 to 1 p.m., Sunday. There is no cost for the event organized for all ages. Those who attend are asked to wear comfortable clothes, pants you can stretch in and clean gym shoes.
Schultz, who was born in Anchorage, was a member of the U.S. women’s curling team in 2006 and 2014. Schultz has won four national titles and one mixed double national title. She was also the Alaska State Junior Women’s Champion five times from 1999 to 2004.
Curling features a sheet of ice on which players slide stones to a target area.
