Palmer leads Valley skiers

FAIRBANKS — Palmer junior Schyler Knopp was the top Mat-Su Valley skier during the second day of the ASAA/First National Bank State Ski Championships Friday in Fairbanks.

Knopp used a time of 33 minutes and 14 seconds to place 22nd in the 10-kilometer freestyle. Knopp was 18th in the classic on Thursday.

Colony’s Abe Meyerhofer, was left just out of the top-25, finishing 26th with a time of 33:45. Connor Mattson was the top Wasilla skier, finishing 38th at 34:56.

Colony’s Abby Jahn led Valley girls with a 50th-place finish in the 7.5-K freestyle Friday. Hannah Smith finished 56th to lead the Moose.
