WASILLA — A 25-year-old Palmer man who “sexted” with a 15-year-old girl over the course of June now faces possible jail time as a result, authorities said.
Steven A. Williams faces four counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and a single count of distributing indecent material to minors, according to court documents. He remained in Mat-Su Pretrial Friday evening on $25,000 bail, court records show.
Alaska State troopers arrested Williams at his parents’ residence in Palmer, and said Williams had twice had at least two physical sexual encounters during over the course of their relationship.
Williams was arraigned Wednesday in Palmer Court. His case has been assigned to Superior Court Judge Kari Kristiansen.
Sexual abuse of a minor is a second-degree felony, meaning Willaims could face up to 10 years or $250,000 per count upon conviction. Distributing indecent material to minors is a class C felony, with a maximum sentence of five years and fines of up to $50,000.
