Palmer man indicted on sex charges

PALMER--A Palmer grand jury indicted a Valley man last week on eight sexual abuse charges for allegedly molesting a young girl.

Larry D. Sandson, 41, was arrested Aug. 29 on four counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and four counts of incest. On Wednesday, an indictment was handed up in Palmer Superior Court on the same charges, according to court records.

Sandson, an electronic technician in Wasilla, was released on $50,000 bail and a court-approved third-party custodian.

The Palmer man was scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

An investigation by the Palmer Police Department began Aug. 1 after police received a report from the young victim's mother that the girl was sexually assaulted by Sandson in his home.

The girl told a Palmer officer and a social worker from the Division of Family and Youth Services that Sandson had sexual contact with her on four occasions in June.

The child was interviewed at a Children's Place in Wasilla.

The girl used anatomically correct dolls to show how Sandson allegedly sexually abused. She told investigators the initial incident occurred in a bedroom closet.

When Palmer police attempted to question Sandson, he refused their request for an interview.

Sandson turned himself in to the Palmer police when he learned they had filed charges against him in August, according to his defense attorney, Larry Wiggins.
