PALMER — A trio of Palmer players earned first-team All-Railbelt Conference at multiple positions.
Seniors Parker Smith and Levi Farris, and junior Duston Corbin each received a pair of first-team honors. Smith was named first-team at both offensive guard and inside linebacker. Farris was tabbed a first-teamer at outside linebacker and long snapper. Corbin garnered the awards at fullback and outside linebacker.
The players are among nine Moose named to the first team. Quarterback Luke Guggenmos, running back Chase Bruesch, offensive tackle Tyler Linder, defensive lineman Micah Natwick and utility player Jayden Christiansen were all named to the first team.
The group helped Palmer finish the regular season 6-2 overall and in second place of the Railbelt. Palmer also advanced to the postseason.
Guggenmos used a career year at quarterback to earn his first-team honors. The senior threw for 1,000 yards, 15 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. Bruesch rushed for a team-high 689 yards and three touchdowns. Linder and Smith helped pave the way for an offense that finished with nearly 2,500 total yards. Smith, Farris, Natwick and Corbin helped lead a defense that allowed only 10.9 points per game during the regular season.
Bruesch (defensive back) and Linder (defensive line) were among five Moose who earned second-team honors. That group also includes Dawson VanTassel (wide receiver), Makeehan Knittle (kicker) and Leif Mumma (defensive back).
Mumma (return specialist), Knittle (punter), Brady Shults (guard) and Dylan Hose (center) were listed as an honorable mention.
Railbelt champion Lathrop swept the major awards. Running back Brendyn Maschmeiser was named the offensive player of the year. Outside linebacker Deondric Henderson was the defensive player of the year. Lathrop mentor Luke Balash was named the coach of the year.
