Palmer senior breaks boys soccer school record

Palmer senior Elijah VonGunten scored the lone goal for his team Thursday afternoon. It helped the Moose finish with a 1-1 tie against defending Division II state champion Soldotna. It also etched his name in Palmer soccer history.

VonGunten set a new boys soccer school record with his 23rd goal of the season. Devon Conroy held the prior mark with his 22 goals as a senior in 2006.

The Palmer girls also tied the Stars, finishing the match locked at 2-2. Kaylee Gallego and Lila Pettit scored for the Moose.

Colony swept a pair of matches against visiting Homer. The Colony boys won 6-0, and the girls scored a 5-0 victory.

The Wasilla girls beat Kodiak 12-0 on Saturday. Jordan Sande, Lainey Kroon, Mylee Anderson, Morgan Mahoney, Makenna Hanson, Chloe Fletcher, Allie Johnson, Dani Steiner, Molly O’Neill, Delany Tatum and Allie Dollick scored for the Warriors. Kayla Hinkley earned the shutout in goal.
