Palmer senior runs in northwest regional race

PALMER — Palmer senior Wylie Mangelsdorf finished 52nd out of nearly 200 runners during the Nike Cross Country Nationals Northwest Region Championships in Boise, Idaho., earlier this month.

Mangelsdorf was one of five Alaska runners to place in the top-60 of the meet that included teams from Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming.

Mangelsdorf finished with a time of 16 minutes and 44 seconds, the same time as Kodiak’s Dylan Anthony, the 2009 Alaska 4A state champion.

Mangelsdorf finished fifth in the state championships in early October.
