Palmer senior wins Wasilla cross-country race

A Palmer standout started off her season with a win.

Katey Houser won the girls’ varsity race during the Wasilla Trailblazer Aug. 14 at the Michael Janecek Trails at Palmer High School.

Houser clocked a time of 19 minutes, 25.41 seconds. Colony freshman Ella Hopkins was the runner-up in the girls’ race with a time of 20”77. Hopkins was the first of four Knights in the girls’ top 10.

Mya Campbell led Redington with a 14th-place finish.Grace Martin was 17th for Wasilla.

Palmer sophomore Fischer Adams led Valley runners in the boys’ race with a time of 17:00 and a third-place finish. Zac Cheyette was sixth to lead Colony. Landon Hayes led Wasilla with a seventh-place finish.
