ANCHORAGE — The Palmer Pioneers’ U14 girls comp team won the Bantam IV championship game 5-4 against the Junior Avalanche on the final day of the Anchorage Hockey Association’s 2015 Turkey Shootout at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena in Anchorage.

The win capped a four-day Thanksgiving weekend, and tournament that included games at both the Boeke and Dempsey-Anderson Ice Arena.

The Pioneers fought their way out of a 3-0 first-period deficit to win 5-4 after an extra five minutes of play and a shootout. Rachel Symmes was tending goal. Marymarie Wallace scored two goals in that final game; Sydney Swanson and Briana Paxton each scored one goal, and Jennifer Peterson scored the winning shootout goal. Brooke Brunnhoelzl and Coree Sanders each tallied two assists; Briana Paxson contributed one assist.
