Meet Nola Lowe. She joined Toastmasters two years ago. She had a few speech classes in college, but no experience speaking in public. Nola especially enjoys all the friendships she has made at Toastmasters.
Lowe is working out of Toastmaster’s first manual, “Competent Communication.” She is next preparing a speech using visual aides. While she is pursuing completion of that manual, she also works out of the “Competent Leadership” manual, which helps develop her leadership skills.
As you become more proficient with public speaking, you gain self-confidence. Lowe is the guardian of her mother, who has advanced stage dementia. Her new expertise from Toastmasters has further grown her ability to advocate for her mother.
Lowe has to deal with many health care agencies. She said she now feels she has the confidence and ability to speak in public about what she has learned as a dementia caregiver.
