PALMER — The city council here is meeting tonight to discuss proposed projects affecting the downtown area.
According to Sandra Garley, director of community development, the comprehensive city plan calls for downtown beautification and revitalization projects. Garley will present projects that can meet that goal.
For example, she said, the comp plan calls for an Evergreen-Dogwood Street couplet. Garley will present the findings of the transportation study, show a preliminary drawing and list alternatives to the plan.
Other concepts will include making the railroad area into a greener environment and other landscaping and beautification projects.
“This is all very preliminary,” said Garley. “I am bouncing ideas off the council for them to consider.”
The public is welcome at the meeting to give their input and will have more opportunities to do so as the projects progress, she said.
“Once the council decides what projects they’re interested in, we’ll coordinate public meetings,” she said.
The meeting is tonight at 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers.
