Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

KJ Henry scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter to help the Palmer Moose hold on to grab a 50-48 boys basketball victory over the Wasilla Warriors Tuesday night at Palmer High school.
Henry had a pair of field goals and was 2 of 4 from the free throw line during the final eight minutes of regulation. The Moose led 35-32 after three periods. The Warriors outscored Palmer 16-15 in the fourth.
Lukas Owen led the Moose with 12 points in the win. Logan Rolston added 10.
Palmer improved to 2-1 in the Northern Lights Conference and 11-2 overall.
Noah Kroon poured in a game-high 20 points in the loss. Tristan Horton added 10 and Aidan Pharr chipped in nine.
Wasilla is now 4-2 in conference and 8-9 overall.
The Wasilla girls scored a 61-26 win over Palmer earlier in the evening. Layla Hays scored 16 points. Claire Bredburg finished with a dozen.
Wasilla is now 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the NLC. Palmer is 0-3 in conference and 5-8 overall.
Colony split a pair of varsity games at Mountain City Christian in Anchorage.
The Colony boys beat Mountain City 54-23 to improve to 10-9 overall and 4-2 in conference.
The Mountain City girls used an 18-12 fourth-quarter run to cement a 42-36 win over the Knights. The NLC rivals were tied at 24 after three quarters.
Ally Shelley led Colony with 11 points. Hallie Clark added nine.
