Palmer-Wasilla Highway upgrade project delayed

MAT-SU — The project that will add a center turn lane to portions of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway has been pushed back.

New project timelines outlined at a meeting last month include an anticipated construction start date in summer 2017. Construction had been set to begin this summer.

The project will add the third lane from Hurley Circle — at the entrance to the Fred Meyer and Target parking lots — to Hemmer Road at the edge of Palmer. A separate project would add a turn lane from Hemmer into downtown Palmer.
