PALMER — Christy Marvin was at it again last Saturday.

A week after setting the women’s record in the Matanuska Peak Challenge, the Palmer woman set another mountain running mark. Marvin used a time of 28 minutes, 36.5 seconds to win the Alyeska Mountain Run. With her time, she became the first woman to break the 29-minute mark in the race, which features 2,000 feet of elevation gain in just two miles of trail.

Marvin broke her own record in the event, by about 30 seconds. She set the prior mark in 2014.

The most recent record is just part of a summer of victories for Marvin, which started in early June with her record-breaking win in the Government Peak Climb. Marvin clocked a time of 50:36 in the race, a 3,500-foot climb to the peak. About two weeks later, Marvin won again, using a time of 44:52 to finish first in the Robert Spurr Memorial Hill Climb at Bird Ridge.

The streak continued July 4, Marvin captured her second career Mount Marathon title. In late July, Marvin earned yet another win, this time using a time of 3:29:32 to win the women’s class during the 2016 Crow Passing Crossing.
