Palmer works to fix leaky water main

PALMER — A city water main on Fireweed Lane was leaking as of Thursday with crews working to fix it.

According to a city of Palmer press release, the leak was reported at 11:30 a.m. The city says the leak is big and is located under a gravel service road immediately west of the Veterans and Pioneers Home.

The city thinks it can stop the leak by closing valves on either side of it.

The city water main that serves the Pioneers Home is functioning fine.

The leaking pipe services two hydrants in the area.
