Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Pamela Lee Green, 59, died peacefully June 13, 2005, at Valley Assisted Living in Palmer, after a 12-year battle with cancer. She went through many trials in that 12 years after her stem-cell infusion and bone-marrow transplant at Fred Hutchison Cancer Center in Seattle. She said, "This may not help me, but it may help other women in the future."
Services will be held at a later date in Ninilchik.
Mrs. Green was born July 30, 1945, in Rose Bush, Mich. She moved to Alaska in 1955 and lived in Anchorage and the Valley.
Mrs. Green worked as a sales clerk for retail. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, painting and spending time in Las Vegas. She will be missed by everyone who came into her life.
She was preceded in death by her infant sons, Leslie and Roy Matteson; father, Joe Baronik; mother, Anita Baronik, and sisters, Peggy Steik and Judy Kammermeyer.
She is survived by her husband, Lon Green; sons, Brett Matteson, Joe Matteson and Schuyler Green; brother, John Baronik; sister, Susan Self; daughters-in-law, Holly Okan and Julie Matteson; grandchildren, Matthew, Dillon, Davin, Aimee and Daniel; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
Her loved ones included the following quote by François Mauriac, "No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever." -Arrangements are with Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
