I would like to address the people responsible for the recent vandalism at Wonderland Park in Wasilla. I don't have a lot of knowledge on the history of the park, but I have truly enjoyed being able to walk there on a regular basis and enjoy the landscape and all of the improvements that have been made over the past year.
It is nice to have a place for children to go and play, and families to have picnics, and teens, or whomever, to be able to play basketball, tennis, volleyball and, above all, skateboard. It is good to have restrooms available and even to have them heated in the winter.
What I don't understand, though, is how some few, whomever you may be, take such liberties as to not only spray paint graffiti all over and drop your garbage wherever you please, but now to have deliberately broken out the security light over each restroom door. You’ve also broken decorated boards off the walls around the play area and who knows what damage you have caused inside the restrooms since now one of them at least is locked.
I have gone in the women's restroom and saw piles of toilet paper scattered all over the floor, some soiled with excrement. I have seen people who work for the city there every day picking up litter all over the grounds, mostly in the skateboard park area, tending to the restrooms and garbage cans — and now they have this destruction to deal with.
I guess you just don't have any conscience or maybe it is your upbringing that has been lacking. I don't know. Put the blame where it best lies. It is pretty sickening in any event.
