The Alaska Department of Transportation is reminding Parks Highway drivers of lane restrictions set to begin Saturday, Oct. 15, part of the ongoing widening project between Church and Pittman roads.
The restrictions, between Vienna Woods Access Road and Museum Drive near Mile 46.5, are expected to cause significant delays of 30 minutes or more. Preference in clearing the lines will be given to the peak direction of travel, according to the DOT.
The lane closures are needed during work on the Alaska Railroad overpass foundation.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, drivers should expect 24-hour, single-lane traffic with flagging operations guiding vehicles through the work zone. The restrictions are expected to run until approximately 6 a.m. Oct. 31.
