WASILLA — An Anchorage man fleeing from Alaska State Troopers saw his plans evaporate when his passenger pulled the emergency brake on the Hyundai he was driving.
According to an AST press statement, the Hyundai was spotted committing a moving violation at 9:21 p.m., Tuesday on Bogard Road near Bear Street.
“The vehicle unexpectedly sped away,” troopers report.
Troopers later identified the driver as Bruce King, 34. They say he led troopers on a pursuit through a nearby neighborhood.
“After the passenger pulled the vehicle’s emergency brake, King fled on foot into the wooded residential area. After a short foot pursuit, troopers arrested King,” troopers report.
He was charged with eluding arrest, assault, driving on a revoked license and reckless driving. His bail was withheld pending his arraignment. As of Thursday, he was still in custody.
