To the editor:
Bill Lyle is to be complimented for his praiseworthy publicity directed toward guiding support to the campaign of Steve Colligan.
Unfortunately, he degrades himself by endeavoring to badmouth another honorable veteran in the name of Pat Johnson. While Johnson may not have obtained the social profile of Colligan, let me assure you that based on personal experience, Pat has gone to very great lengths to assist other veterans, including myself.
My qualification to comment in this matter is that of a disabled veteran who for years has sought assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Had it not been for the totally selfless help given to my family and I by Pat and his wife, my claim would have probably been forced to collapse. All that Pat asked in return for his selfless help was that at some point in time, I gave similar help to another veteran in need.
Really Lyle, your jaundiced comments do not do you justice and are totally unnecessary.
Also, I would like you to explain what is meant by your use of the word “liberal” when referring to Johnson.
In closing, I would urge voters to give serious consideration to Johnson as a dedicated man who works not for recognition or praise, but solely for the good of the community.
