Longtime Alaska resident, Patricia Gail “Patsy” Coyne entered into Heaven on December 13, 2022. She was 78.

Patsy was born to Ralph and Shirley Peligrin in Covington Louisiana on June 14th, 1944. She loved her hometown, going back many times throughout her lifetime, visiting her family; DeeDee, TeeTa, Ralph Jr., Herbie, Debby, Kenny, and Nina. It was in Louisiana that she met Robert “Bobby” Coyne, who she would go on to marry in 1959. They were blessed with 6 children, who were the lights of her life (until the grandchildren came). Outside of raising her children, Patsy was an avid volunteer at local greenhouses, the post office in Sutton, and was quite possibly the biggest fan of any sport the Palmer Moose happened to be playing. She also led the charge in founding BAART (Backcountry Avalanche Awareness and Response Team) after the loss of one of her beloved sons. She was an avid bunco player, she could out-crochet anyone in all of Alaska, but above all else, she lived for her family and friends. Never an acquaintance with a need turned away, and always a plate of food to anyone who stopped by. Her heart was always so tender and a genuine generous nature. Never a negative word on the strife or hardship of others, but would instead show up at their door and ask how she could help. She was a true testament to the idea that angels walk amongst us (or even a saint, if you knew her kids growing up).

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bobby, and her children Andy, Keith “Bubba” and Angie “Sis”. She is survived by her sons Cleve, Wes (Dawn), O’Neal (Wendy), Son-in-law Ed Reavis; her grandchildren Jason, Gregory, Amanda (Josh), Siera, Colton, Jonathan, Delaney and Amelia; and her great-grandchildren Keith, Michael, Tristen, Atticus, Remy, Indica, Payton and Avery. There are too many family members to list individually, but you all know who you are, and how deeply and fiercely she loved you.

A celebration of life potluck for Patsy will be held Saturday, June 10th at 2pm at the Fairview Loop Baptist Church, located at 3118 W. Fairview Loop in Wasilla. Please bring a dish, and a memory, to share. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend a little extra time with your family and loved ones, and maybe go cheer on the Palmer Moose.

Proverbs 31:27-30 “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children will arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
