PATRICK WINTHROP LOMBARD

Patrick Winthrop Lombard, 29, died April 13, 2001, at his home in Wasilla.

A lifelong Alaskan, Mr. Lombard was born Aug. 22, 1971, in Anchorage. He attended school in Anchorage and Eagle River, graduating from Chugiak High School in 1991. He also attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and received computer training from the Alaska Center for the Blind.

No service is planned. A memorial gathering for family and friends was held Saturday, April 21, at 2 p.m., at his parents' home in Eagle River.

His family said: "Patrick had a brilliant and inquisitive mind and was on a constant quest for knowledge, especially in the field of quantum physics and medical science. He loved to share his insights with his family and friends. Patrick was also a caring son, brother and friend."

Mr. Lombard was planning a career in computer programming at the time of his death. He also enjoyed music, fishing and downhill skiing. As a teen-ager, he received an award for his poetry and accompanying tactile artwork which was chosen for inclusion in the National Very Special Arts Calendar in 1985.

He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Caroline Lombard of Eagle River; sister, Melanie Lombard, of Berkeley, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Adam Staley of Eagle River; grandmother, Mary C. Lombard of Palm Desert, Calif.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patrick's memory to the Alaska Center for the Blind, 3903 Taft Dr., Anchorage, AK 99517. Call 248-7770, ext. 102, for more information.
