HOUSTON — The North Pole Patriots netted a sweep of the Houston Hawks in Mid-Alaska Conference action at Houston High School Thursday.
In boys action, Eli Sponseller scored 11 points to lead North Pole to a 55-31 win over the Hawks. Scott Kramer scored a game-high 13 for Houston.
Josie Broderick used her 18 points to lead the North Pole girls to a 49-32 win over the Hawks. Savanna James scored 17 for HHS.

Houston girls top Monroe
FAIRBANKS — Junior Savanna James scored 25 points to lead the Houston Hawks to a 39-35 win over the Monroe Catholic Rams last Saturday in Fairbanks.
James scored 19 of her team’s 23 first-half points. Houston led 23-6 at the half.
The Houston boys suffered a 56-28 win over the Hawks. Junior Scott Kramer led the Hawks with six.
Earlier during Houston’s road trip to the Interior, the Hawks were swept at Lathrop HIgh.
The Lathrop boys beat Houston 65-43. Kramer led the Hawks with 18, while Tyler Barron chipped in 11.
The Houston girls suffered a 52-43 loss. James scored 19 points to lead Houston.
Moose split with
Anchorage teams
PALMER — Sophomore Taylor Blake poured in 22 points to lead Palmer ot a 65-57 nonconference win over South Anchorage last Saturday at Palmer High School.
Blake hit 10 shots from the floor and scored six during Palmer’s 24-point second quarter. Senior Kendal Venzke added 12 in the win, and senior Erin LaMere added 10.
Earlier last week, Venzke scored 12 points to lead Palmer to a 63-40 win over Service.
Venzke scored half her points during Palmer’s 14-point second quarter to help the Moose grab the nonconference win. Tress Whitfield scored all five of her points during the first quarter to help the Moose lead after the first eight minutes.
Kasara Brandenburg also scored 12 points for the Moose.
In boys action, Palmer dropped consecutive nonconference losses to Service and South. Service ran to a 27-19 lead during a high-scoring first quarter and held on for the 73-51 win over Palmer.
Trey Fullmer hit a pair of three-pointers and scored a team-high 10 points. Sean Niekamp added nine. Marques Robinson paced Service with 20.
South used TJ McKinney’s 25 points to post a 68-56 win over Palmer. Sophomore Connor Looney scored a team-high 21.
