Borough mayor criticizes capital study opponents

Borough Mayor Ron Larson, a member of the Capital Site Planning Commission, has criticized legislators who oppose a $62,000 study to determine the costs of retaining the capital at Juneau.

His criticism this week was directed in part at Sen. Jalmar Kertulla of Palmer, who Larson said added his individual "don not pass" recommendation to a supplemental appropriation bill if it included funds for the study.

The commission is seeking $828,200 to prepare an environmental impact statement for the capital site in Willow.
