Representative Mary Sattler Peltola announced on July 2, 2024 that airports in Alaska will receive $18,851,014 in funding for the FY24 Airport Improvement Program via the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program, established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).
In the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the Talkeetna Airport will receive $ 1,171,875.00, while Willow Airport will receive $ 328,125.00. Meanwhile, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International airport in Anchorage is set to receive $ 702,080.00.
“People in the lower 48 don’t understand how much Alaskans rely on air transportation – 82% of our communities aren’t on the road system,” said Representative Peltola. “These grants will update our airports and keep Alaskans safe.”
