Regarding the Frontiersman editorial of Feb. 19, 2012, the lesson learned for Wasilla High students from their current art problem is not that one of America’s basic tenets of freedom is expression, but that if our government makes a mistake, the people can still correct it.
In our system of government, the people still rule. When the school district approved the art, it forgot about one thing — the students. WHS principal Amy Spargo is making all the right decisions. I’m sure that our local artists (who created) the artwork are excellent professionals. It just didn’t work out this time. A good guess is that the art will probably be relocated, and hopefully we can start all over again, this time involving students, parents and alumni.
