Justin Paul Chamblee has been appointed to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski nominated Chamblee for the appointment and notified the Colony High School senior that the service academy has extended an offer of appointment beginning July 2. Chamblee is a senior at Colony High School, where he participates in Colony’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. During his four years in JROTC, he has served in numerous support and leadership roles. He also participated in the Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage, played football at Colony and excelled in numerous advanced placement and college courses. He is the son of Carl and Lulu Chamblee and sibling to Anton, 16, and Carl, 14.

• Jessica Parker of Palmer is among 32 Arkansas Tech University students selected for inclusion in the 2014 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. A middle level education major, Parker is on pace to graduate in August. She is the daughter of Lisa and David Parker of Palmer.

• Matanuska-Susitna College student Zachery Seals won the statewide CISCO Netrider competition and has been selected as part of the U.S. and Canada national Dream Team. Selections were based on technical and professional skills, activities outside the classroom, instructor recommendations to name a few attributes.

Collin Christiansen, a junior from Palmer, will play Jesus in the student-led drama, "The Gospel Mime," April 14-15 at Concordia University, Seward, Neb.

Cameron Christiansen, a freshman from Palmer, will play Judas in the student-led drama, "The Gospel Mime," April 14-15 at Concordia University, Seward, Neb. He also will sign bass II the male chorus April 27 as part of the Male Chorus and Women's Chorale concert at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward, Neb.

Aili Davenport of Wasilla was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester at Biola University, La Mirada, Calif.

• Navy Seaman Apprentice Lindsay Serrano of Wasilla graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL. She is the daughter of Gil and Beverly Serrano of Wasilla and a 2011 graduate of Burchell High School, Wasilla.
