• Cameron Christiansen of Palmer will perform two combined concerts in April with musical ensembles from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. The Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra performed April 23 in the Recital Hall of Concordia’s Music Center. The Male Chorus and Women’s Chorale performs April 26 at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward, Neb.

• Wasilla High School graduate Teresa Kennedy received a prestigious Truman Scholarship. She is a Second Class Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was nominated by the academy for the award.

• Air Force Airman Sean R. Russell graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the husband of Dena Russell and the son of Katherine and Thomas Russell of Palmer.

• Gov. Bill Walker appointed, and the Legislature has confirmed, John T. Harmon of Palmer to the State Board of Education and Early Development. A graduate of Palmer High School, Harmon earned a bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in New York, a master’s in education from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, and a juris doctor degree from Capital University. He is currently the principal and a teacher at Lumen Christi Catholic High School in Anchorage.

• Aili Davenport of Wasilla was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester at Biola University, La Mirada, Calif.

• Taylor Asher of Talkeetna was one of 160 students who presented their undergraduate research April 11 at the 15th annual Academic Excellence Conference at Keene State College, in Keene, N.H. Asher presented on the topic “An Exploration of the ‘Slackers’ Among Us: An Ethnography of Art Students.”
