Dr. Meghan Aube, percussion educator, choral director, and adjunct professor at Matanuska Susitna College in Palmer, will serve as percussion teacher and performer for the 31st annual Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival June 24 to July 22 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

• Houston High School student Holly Brett of Willow was nominated to represent Alaska as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2012 Washington Journalism and Media Conference July 8 to 13 at George Mason University. She was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.

Dr. Jeffrey L. Sponsler of Alaska Brain Center LLC in Wasilla was session chair for Decision Support Systems and presented his paper “StrokeDx: An AI System To Diagnose Stroke” at the IASTED 2012 Telehealth Conference in Innsbruck, Austria Feb. 17.

• Colony High School’s Whitney Winders will represent the Mat-Su Valley as one of 10 finalists at the Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest at 5 p.m., March 27 at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center.
