People We Know: April 29, 2012

• Nancy Means of Palmer was honored with a Student Achievement Award in Leadership and Service as an “Outstanding Freshman” at the University of Idaho, where she is studying geology. She is the daughter of Dr. Norman and Tammy Means of Palmer.

• Jamie E. Newman, clerk of the Mat-Su Borough, has earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk, which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc. IIMC grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, community and state.

• Meredith Mapes of Palmer was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 winter term at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Ore.

• Michael Cook of Palmer was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 winter term at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Ore.

• Harmony Phillips of Wasilla was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 winter term at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Ore.

• Danielle Pempek of Wasilla was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 winter term at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Ore.
