Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

• Annika Svoboda of Wasilla was named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. The honor recognizes students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.
• Jordan Bartolo, the daughter of Juliet and Scott Bartolo of Wasilla, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, during commencement ceremonies May 6. Bartolo majored in women's, gender, sexuality studies at Earlham.
• Zane Barker, a Palmer High School graduate and the son of Judy and Richard Barker of Palmer, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. To be included, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Barker is majoring in computer science.
• Kaden Weaver of Palmer was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, this spring. Phi Beta Kappa is the national honor society for liberal arts and sciences undergraduates. Weaver is a member of the class of 2017 and is majoring in computer science and economics.
• Donavan Parker of Wasilla was named to the Rocky Mountain College spring semester dean’s list, which includes students who maintained a 3.60 to 3.99 GPA. Rocky Mountain College is located in Billings, Montana.
• Adam Christiansen of Palmer was one of 241 students named to Concordia University, Nebraska's, honors list for the spring 2017 semester. The top 25 percent of all undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours qualify for the honors list. Concordia is located in Seward, Nebraska.
• Justin Leiner, son of Roseann Leiner of Palmer, participated in the 160th annual Commencement Ceremony at Saint John’s University on May 14 in the Saint John's Abbey and University Church in Collegeville, Minnesota. Leiner is a candidate to receive a bachelor of arts in theology with the honor of summa cum laude. Summa cum laude indicates a grade point average between 3.90 and 4.0.
