Wasilla residents Cheylynn Pennington and Max Hardy have announced their engagement, and have set a June wedding date.
Cheylynn is the daughter of Randy and Sally Pennington of Wasilla. She is a 2014 Wasilla High School graduate, attends the University of Alaska Anchorage and is employed as a mental health specialist with North Star Hospital
Max is the son of John and Rebecca Hardy of Wasilla. He is a 2013 Mat-Su Career Tech graduate as well as an AVTEC and Northern Industrial Training graduate. He is employed as an Alaska Steel CDL driver.
The couple plan a 4 p.m. wedding June 10 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage.

Corporal Chase A. Hammer, who attends Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, has been selected 4th Battalion Command Sgt. Maj. for the 2017-18 term. In addition, he will hold a position on Norwich’s Drill Team for the same period. Hammer is a 2015 graduate of Wasilla High School and was one of the original ROTC students in the WHS program.
Wasilla resident and Carroll College student, Carly Colligan, was one of three students recognized for their commitment to service by being awarded the Raymond G. Hunthausen Outstanding Collegiate Citizenship Award. According to the Helena, Montana-based college, the selection committee chooses students “who work to improve the lives of others through their own unselfish commitment of time, energy and compassion.” Colligan is a senior nursing student and serves as the president of Carroll College Engineers Without Borders. She also serves as a Gold Team Ambassador for the admissions office and was a community adviser for Carroll College Residential Life for three years, earning Community Advisor of the Year in 2013-2014. Colligan volunteered during Service Saturdays, at St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn and as a retreat volunteer for freshman and sophomore students, according to a news release from the college.
