Person of interest in triple homicide investigation taken into custody on unrelated federal charges

A person of interest in the investigation of the murder of three Valley residents was taken into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant regarding federal charges.

Juan Camarena called the Alaska State Troopers and arranged to meet at a Wasilla location, according to AST. Camarena was taken into custody without incident about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The investigation is ongoing, AST said.

Camarena, 51, was wanted for questioning in the investigation of three Valley residents who were murdered Nov. 2. Michael Attwood, 25, and Donna Marie Campos, 37, were found dead off Knick Knack Mud Shack Road. Alyssa Jimenez, 28, was later found dead near Mile 10 of Knik-Goose Bay Road. The deaths of Attwood and Campos were confirmed Nov. 3. Jimenez’ body was found Nov. 5.
