MAT-SU — Six new Mat-Su Borough nonprofits are among the 56 added to the list for next year’s Pick.Click.Give. giving program through the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend. The addition brings the total number of recipient groups to 512, up from 338 when the program started in 2009.
New Valley names on the list are Alaska Cat Adoption Team, CoOccurring Disorders Institute Inc., Frontline Mission, Iditarod Trail Committee Inc., Mat-Su Ski Club and the Talkeetna Historical Society.
“We’re really excited that the number of Alaska nonprofits taking part in the program continues to grow,” said Heather Beaty, Pick.Click.Give. program manager. “Alaskans have shown that they are generous even when the PFD amounts are low. This program is a great opportunity for them to give back.”
This year, about 26,000 Alaskans pledged a record $2.4 million from their PFDs. The Pick.Click.Give. program started with $545,000 in donations. Nonprofits have to apply each year to become Pick.Click.Give. recipients.
Enrollment period for the annual PFD program is Jan. 1 to March 31 each year. The dividend program was established through an amendment to the Alaska Constitution as a means for all eligible Alaskans to share in revenue from oil revenue the state receives.
The dividend amount for 2013 is $900 and payment distributions began in October.
