Pilot extracted after plane crash near Willow

WASILLA — Emergency services responded to a plane crash near Willow Thursday afternoon.

A plane crashed into the Susitna River at approximately Mile 79 of the Parks Highway Thursday at 4:34 p.m. Mat-Su Borough Deputy Director of Emergency Services Ken Barkley said the pilot had been extracted. The plane had flipped over, according to reports.

The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center also responded.

The pilot was the only occupant of the plane.
