As Landon Guggenmos cruised on the mound, the Palmer Pioneers offense jumped on Bartlett early and often. Guggenmos pitched a five-inning shutout and the Pioneers used 11 hits to club the Golden Bears 19-0 Sunday at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
Guggenmos fanned 10 of the 20 batters he faced during the Alliance Baseball League victory. He allowed only three hits in the win.
Nine different Pioneers scored at least a run. Ben Alley, Kaden Ketchum, Drake Gallagher and Keagen Norman scored three runs each. Bryant Marks was 4 for 4 at the plate with three RBI. Norman, Evan Walker and Luke Guggenmos drove in two runs each.
Road Warriors suffer first loss
The Wasilla Road Warriors suffered their first loss of the summer. West edged Wasilla 4-2 at McManus Field in Wasilla Sunday.
West used three runs in the fifth to earn the win. The Warriors were held to six hits in the loss. Nolan Murphy and Waylon Payne drove in runs. Jacob Gilbert and Clayton Boyett scored runs.
